It is important to remember that you can’t reference cells in other rows or other tables of data. As in this video, for example, you cannot create a running total using formula columns. (Consider trying that with a Pivot table, though).
There are ways to get around this though with an approach using more advanced SQL formulas, aggregate formulas, or using built-in Pivot/Summary table capabilities.
