It’s important to set the stages for your deal pipeline!

You should have a clear idea of the various steps needed to go from a new, prospect-level sort of deal to a Closed Won, signed and paid transaction.

You set those definitions during the planning process and then in the CRM you can customize the Deal module Stage options.

And, we’ll just put a plug in here for Zoho Analytics, an incredible BI tool. If you have any sort of sales pipeline, it’s useful to have good reporting on the state of that pipeline. Consider looking at Zoho Analytics for all your reporting needs. We have all the material you need to learn it.
