Testing It on the Trigger

To test the entire process:

  • create another invoice record
  • record a payment for it
  • in the “Payment History” section below the payment record, you can check to see if the workflow rule triggered the custom function
  • you may have to refresh the page for it to appear
  • once you see that, click into the Customer record to see that our custom field, “Last Payment Date”, was updated

Like I mentioned at the beginning of the course, this could be useful information to sync to CRM. Then, you could create segments within CRM or Campaigns based on a client’s last payment date.
